We stayed in Jersey City 2 times this summer. Family of 5. First time around we stayed at the Courtyard by Mariott, which has a better location in Jersey City since its next to the PATH station (which takes you directly to 33rd street midtown manhattan, or to the WTC). But this Holiday Inn is not that much further from the PATH, an easy 10 min walk, and is better than the Courtyard in every way (except no pool),and half the cost (on our dates at least)! The Courtyard does not have breakfast, but this Holiday Inn has, until 0930 AM, it's limited but good enough. We had a great room at the top floor with at Manhattan view! Theres a lot of traffic on the south-side of the hotel, but no noise problem. The hotel feels new, the rooms "scandinavian" in feeling, with modern materials, wooden floors, good beds, a micro, refrigerator, safe, and AC that works well without noise. We could also store our suitcases for a few hours after checkout for no fee. Target and Best Buy right next door. The view of Manhattan from the NJ waterfront is breathtaking, and something you won't see if you stay on Manhattan. This was our familys first trip to NY, and I would recommend staying here. You save a lot of money compared to the other hotels (to be spent on Uber og Lyft for instance, or attractions). A Lyft XL from Newark airport for 5 people (and 6 suitcases) was USD 28. From JFK in the middle of the night the fare was USD 120.

Breakfast: Breakfast looks okay, but doesn't have many healthy options, so I only had coffee and apples. Location: It is right in front of the Holland Tunnel. So I could constantly hear the cars, but it was more like white noise to me and I had my earplugs, so my sleep at night was okay overall. If you are driving to the hotel, especially during the rush hour, you need to drive very carefully in case of accidentally driving into the Holland Tunnel to NY and paying for the expensive toll fee. If you walk to the hotel, during the daytime, there should be no problem since the hotel is located between Hoboken and Newport (very safe cities). But during the night, since there is a large mall area nearby, the streets become a bit sketchy, so I would not suggest you walk back to the hotel after midnight alone. Transportation: The location is pretty good with the price. It's about 15 walk away from NJ Path train to World Trade Center in NY, while it's not too convenient if you want to visit Hoboken, since it's a almost 30 min walk to the Hoboken center and public transportation within NJ is not as efficient as in NY. Room: The room I stayed in was surprisingly large and clean. Although small things like the quality of the hair dryer, and toiletries (which you will have to ask the front desk to get them) are below my expectations, the hotel still has almost everything I needed.

Location is very good, just outside New York (easy to get to New York with the Path train=subway). Just buy a metro card, you can use up to 4 persons per metrocard. Metrocard is refillable. Beds are very comfortable. Breakfast great. Staff very helpful. Target (big store) nearby hotel and you can buy everything you need. After a whole day New York is great to stay in Jersey City (enter and get off at Newport station) because its quiet there. At the 2nd floor you can wash and dry your clothes for just $3.50 (buy washing soap for $2) so $5.50 total (prices april 2023). You get there via taking bus 62 (from airport) to Newark Penn station and from there take the path train to stop in Newport (then walk 10 min to hotel). I would not travel by public transport from airport to Penn station because it didn't feel safe though we went in the morning. I would avoid in the evening and night. Better to take uber or lyft (or taxi but that's quite expensive). Newport is very safe but to newport from newark penn station: I wouldn't travel by evening or night. You get value for your money. Great stay! Definitely recommend.

Very clean room, crispy clean sheets which l appreciate. we had a family suite on 5th floor with a great view of Manhattan. About 10 min walk from Newport Train station which takes you into NYC (1 stop to SoHo, 5 stops to corner of 33rd and 6th Ave, near Empire State Building - costs 2.75 one way). Right next door is Target which was convenient for getting snacks and toiletries we forgot. Breakfast was very good, but be downstairs before 8am otherwise it gets busy. We read a lot of negative comments about noise coming from being so close to the Holland Tunnel but we didn’t hear it although we were facing the tunnel exit.

This was a great option for our family of 5. We stayed in one room with two queen beds and a pull out sofa. It was all we needed to rest our feet after lots of walking in NYC. It was super easy to walk to the PATH station daily and hop on a train to the city. We felt safe walking the main roads to the station.
